NY Yankees Cookies

A very good friend of mine does not like cake, I know right, so for her birthday Amy and I made NY Yankees cookies. She is a die hard Yankee fan and I thought it would be fun to make cookies that look like their jerseys. Here they are:

They were a ton of fun to make and I think they look awesome!! Hopefully the birthday girl loves them.

Hoppy Easter

It's been a crazy week with working overtime, making a failure of a birthday cake, yankee cookies, and also squeezing in some Easter cookies.

Last year I saw these on Sweet Sugar Belle's Website.  I search and searched some more for a cookie cutter that would work for the Peeps Cookies.  I had no luck until I saw a post on facebook from Copper Gifts about a cookie cutter that was perfect.

The cookies were a hit at the family Easter dinner, I'm pretty sure my brother smuggled quite a few home.

I will try and get Amie to make a post about the Yankee Cookies since I failed to take any photos.

Cookies, Cookies, and more Cookies

Over the past couple weeks have been making quite a few cookies.  First up was some special leprechaun cookies for a friend.  I saw these on SweetSugarBelle's Blog and immediately fell in love.  I had to search all over for the cutter she used, but I love how they turned out.

After those were made and delivered it was time to make some birthday cookies for a friend's 39th birthday on 3/9.  I had purchased some number cookie cutter from Sur la Table and finally got to test them out.

And then finally was having friends over to watch "The Bachelor" finale, and what better way to watch Ben pick his poison then to have Champagne and Engagement Ring Cookies?  I really love how these turned out.  I finally got to use my small silver dragees that I picked up at NY Cake last spring.  I love how they look like the champagne bubbles.  I painted silver luster dust on the rings and added a sprinkle of disco dust to the diamonds.

Fairy and Roses

My cousin's Daughter also has a birthday this month, and they did a joint birthday party.  So after Thomas was done it was on to a request of a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting with roses and fairies.  So for a while Amie and I tried to make sculpted fairies out of fondant and gumpaste, I don't think either of us will win a contest for sculpted anything anytime soon : ).  So just a few days before the cake needed to be made my friend Karin suggested a flat fairy.  The thought hadn't even crossed my mind before.

So Gabby got a cake with fairies running thru the grass and the top covered with buttercream roses.  The whole thing was dusting with some fairy dust.

Thomas the Train

I volunteered to make a cake for my cousin's son Alex.  He requested a "baniwa" cake with blue frosting that was Thomas the Train.  So after much searching on the internet on how to make a Thomas cake, Amie and I got together and made a practice cake.  When we were done with the practice we had a much better idea of what to do for the real one.

It took about 5 hours after baking the cakes to stack and frost then cover in fondant and add all the details.  But I really loved how it turned out.

So now for the pictures.

Oscar Flash Back

So 2 years ago I saw this post on Bakerella.  It immediately made me want to order the cookie cutter from CopperGifts and learn how to use royal icing.  So I shelled out the $15 on the cookie cutter and googled royal icing and went and bought everything else I would need to make some Oscar cookies.

At the time I thought these were pretty amazing.

When I look at them now all I can see is what I would do differently.  If someone could make more hours in the day, these would be made again this weekend in honor of the Oscars.  Instead I'll be elbow deep in "Baniwa" cake trying to figure out how to make a Thomas the Train cake.

Valentine's Day

Last year for Valentine's Day I took cake pops to work for the coworkers.  I figured if I didn't show up with something this year I might be in trouble.  So last minute I decided to do some heart cookies.   Basically it was an excuse to try out some marbling and stripes with the royal icing.
