Dora the Explorer

Two blog posts in one week, guess you could say it's been a little busy around the 2amis kitchen.  This weeks cake was for a little girl having her 3rd Birthday.  Dora it is.

To make this cake we used an 8"chocolate round for the face, and more 8" chocolate rounds to make the hair.  Filled it with chocolate cream cheese frosting, covered it in fondant, added the face and possibly the easiest and less stressful cake we have made.

This order also wanted some cake pops to go with the cake.  So we made 15 cake pops and covered them in Pink and Purple sugar, and a pastel mix of jimmies.  Turned out to be some of my favorite cake pops.

Drum Cake

It's been a while since we baked a cake, blame it on a new baby and a summer filled with parents in town.

We got a request for a cake that looked like a drum with a miniature cake on top.  The bottom tier was chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting.  It was covered with fondant and details to make it look like a drum.

The top tier was white cake with cream cheese frosting covered with fondant and fondant letters spelling out Happy Birthday Bobby.

The miniature drum set was made of candy clay and fondant.  It was fun to make and really like how it turned out.

And now for what you come for, the pictures.

The cake full view (really should have taken better pictures with my camera, these are all from the phone)

It's Angry Birds Time!

So for my 4 year old birthday this year he requested Angry Birds. We decided since there were going to be a gazillion kids that cupcakes would make the most sense. We made pigs, red birds, yellow, birds, blue birds, black birds and white birds. Here they are:

We also decided to make an 8 inch cake so the birthday boy could blow out his candles. This is what we came up with:

We had a lot of fun with these, they were time consuming but a lot of fun. The birthday boy was thrilled. Till next time.

It's Rasta Time!

So a friend of mine asked if we would make a rasta themed cake for her stepdaughters birthday. Since we are now experts when it comes to tiered cakes, (okay maybe not experts) this is what we came up with:

I think it turned out pretty cute. This cake was a lot of fun to make and the design is super versatile.

Stop by next week for an Angry Birds cake and cupcakes.

It's a first, we made our first tiered cake!

A coworker asked us to make a graduation cake to celebrate the high school graduation of two of her grandkids.  They go to different schools, so we were not sure what to do.  The coworker said she wanted a tiered cake and told us what the kids did while in school.  Here is what we came up with.

This is the front view.  Luckily the two schools both had green and white as school colors so we just needed to add a little blue to one side.

This is Ashley's side, she was a basketball player and a star student.

Amie was very happy with her Jersey, I was just happy she was there helping since she is 9 days past having a baby!

This is Taylor's side.  He was into music and played the guitar.

For our first tiered cake I have to say I'm happy with it.  It gets delivered tomorrow, and hopefully the coworker likes it.

Congratulations Dr. Sean

My friend who grew up a few houses down had a great accomplishment to celebrate this past weekend.  He's became a Doctor!   So cookies were in order.  Dr. Sean went to the University of Minnesota so this is what I came up with.

Wonder Woman

My friend Marc and I share a birthday week, and Marc loves Wonder Woman.  Last year Amie and I made this cake to surprise him.

This year I wasn't sure what I could do Wonder Woman themed to top last years cake since he loved it so much.  So I thought and thought, then came across this image after searching Wonder Woman on Google.

And I said to my self, I think I could make that into a cookie.  So out came the KopyKake and this is what the end result looks like.

Marc LOVED them, and I've told him he needs to pick a new superhero because I'm not sure I can top the Wonder Woman cookie.
