Christmas Cookies

This post should have been done weeks ago, but sometimes life gets in the way of cookies.

Since Amie and I had so much fun doing the Thanksgiving Cookies we decided to come up with some Christmas cookies to do.  We also needed to do cookies for our friends Annual Holiday Party. So in the month of December I think we made close to 1000 cookies.  I think we are both ready for a break, it's short however, we have orders to fill next week.

So why you all come here, the pictures.

This was the one dozen assortment.  We did a Santa, Snowman, Snowflake, Bird, Gingerbread Man, Candy Cane, Candy, Ornament, Mitten, Hat and Tree

Thanksgiving Cookies

Thanksgiving is 10 days away.  Do you have your cookies yet?  Some lucky people are about to receive some.  We delivered 60 boxes of cookies today the company that placed the order is going to give the cookies out for Thanksgiving gifts.  60 boxes with 5 cookies each. . . that's a lot of butter and powdered sugar.

I'm pretty sure every flat surface in the kitchen was covered in cookies sheets like this.

After they all got iced they had to sit around to dry.  Good time to take pictures right?

After they were completely dry it was time to take some better pics and box them up.

So what's up now?  More Thanksgiving cookies.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my Dad's 65th Birthday.  He was in town this past week so of course some cookies and his favorite Whoopie Pies needed to be made.  I couldn't decide on a cookie theme for him, but then early one morning it came to me.  The family loves a good game of mexican train, so I pulled out the dominoes and came up with a perfect train for the perfect Dad.

Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I love to see how creative people get with their costumes, and the candy in mini sizes isn't too bad either.  Our good friends Marc and Rusty have a halloween party each year, and I've been doing the treat part of the food spread for the past couple years.  This week was pretty busy with cookies, and cakepops, and more cookies, so unfortunately pictures were left until the last minute at the party and are not the best.

Cake pops in the awesome cake stand that the boys made.

 Cookie assortment.

 Skulls

 Ghost

 Candy.

 Spider webs

 Bats

 Witch Hat

 Tombstone

 Cauldron

 Pumpkins

All the cookies on display, only 4 remained at the end of the party, and I'm pretty sure we ate those cleaning up.

Next up . . . . 300 fall cookies!  Wish us luck.

It's a Boy! Baby Shower Cookies

My longest friend Marcie is heading to North Caroline for one of her dear friends baby shower.  She asked for some cookies to take along with her.

I saw this idea for the "it's a boy!" cookies over on Bake at 350.  I love Bridget's blog and she just had a cookie book come out.

So for the baby shower we did some "it's a boy!" cookies, some onesies, and a few stars.  We didn't want them to baby baby, so just kept it to baby blue, green, yellow, and white.

They are all packed up now and ready for the airplane ride tomorrow.  Fingers crossed that they make it.

Duff Beer Cake

We received a request for a Duff Beer Can Cake for Bosses day.  I wanted the cake to be the correct ratio as a regular can.  So this cake was about 6" wide by about 12" tall.  It's actually 2 cakes stacked on top of each other with supports in the bottom layers.

It ended up being a little harder than we expected, or it might have just seemed hard since we had a 4 year old and 4 month hold hanging out with us today.

I'm happy how it turned out, and hopefully it made it to it's destination in one piece.

Stay tuned, we also did baby shower cookies today, that post will be up later this week.

Cookie Bouquet

Tomorrow is my Grandma's 92nd Birthday.  My Grandma is pretty special, she's probably the reason I love sugar cookies.  She always has some ready frosted with pink frosting to pull out of the freezer whenever company comes over.   When we were little she would always make 2 batches, one to bake and one to eat the dough.  She thinks my sugar cookies are too pretty to eat, and I'm sure that these will sit on her mantle until the family comes this weekend to celebrate.

Happy Birthday Grandma Anna!

Dora the Explorer

Two blog posts in one week, guess you could say it's been a little busy around the 2amis kitchen.  This weeks cake was for a little girl having her 3rd Birthday.  Dora it is.

To make this cake we used an 8"chocolate round for the face, and more 8" chocolate rounds to make the hair.  Filled it with chocolate cream cheese frosting, covered it in fondant, added the face and possibly the easiest and less stressful cake we have made.

This order also wanted some cake pops to go with the cake.  So we made 15 cake pops and covered them in Pink and Purple sugar, and a pastel mix of jimmies.  Turned out to be some of my favorite cake pops.

Drum Cake

It's been a while since we baked a cake, blame it on a new baby and a summer filled with parents in town.

We got a request for a cake that looked like a drum with a miniature cake on top.  The bottom tier was chocolate cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting.  It was covered with fondant and details to make it look like a drum.

The top tier was white cake with cream cheese frosting covered with fondant and fondant letters spelling out Happy Birthday Bobby.

The miniature drum set was made of candy clay and fondant.  It was fun to make and really like how it turned out.

And now for what you come for, the pictures.

The cake full view (really should have taken better pictures with my camera, these are all from the phone)
